Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of medical professionals (including pharmacists and registered nurses) involved in the care of patients with acute life-threatening situations.

Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Recognize the specific needs of a patient in an acutely life-threatening situation (e.g. cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest)
  • Respond with the appropriate life support algorithm
  • Provide appropriate care in response to rapidly changing patient needs
  • Identify normal and abnormal electrocardiograms
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the types and dosages of medications used in ACLS and PALS
  • Apply skills related to working as part of an interdisciplinary team
