Paying for college and professional school is more challenging than ever. Even though you are pursuing a career that involves helping people and potentially saving lives, you still need to pay for it. Fortunately, various scholarship and financial aid opportunities can take a little bit of the sting out of paying for healthcare education. We have compiled a list to help get you started.

SCHOLARSHIPS

AACN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral program in nursing at an AACN member institution and have a minimum 3.25 GPA.
  • Award Amount: $2,500
  • Deadline: June 30, September 30, December 31, March 31

CAPPEX EASY COLLEGE MONEY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be currently enrolled in high school or college or plan to enroll in the next 12 months.
  • Award Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: June 30

ACCULYNX SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a current student of a four-year or technical school.
  • Award Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: October 1

AACN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a student who is seeking a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. Special consideration will be given to students in a graduate program with the goal of becoming a nurse educator; students completing an RN-to-BSN or RN-to-MSN program; and those enrolled in an accelerated program. Applicant must already be enrolled (not just accepted) at an AACN member institution.
  • Award Amount: $2,500

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN SCHOLARSHIPS (AAUW)

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a female student currently enrolled in a medical school and be a student member in AMWA at the national level. Applicant must also demonstrate financial need and submit an essay and letter or recommendation.
  • Award Amount: $1,000

AMERICAN INDIAN NURSE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be 1/4 American Indian and enrolled in a tribe. If not enrolled, the student will be considered if he or she can prove direct tribal ancestry. Must also be a high school graduate or have equivalent education and enrolled in an accredited school.
  • Award Amount: $1,500
  • Deadline: Applications for fall term must be submitted by June 1st; applications for the spring must be submitted by December 1st.

ANNUAL NBNA SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Who’s Eligible:  Applicant must be African American currently enrolled in a nursing program and in good academic standing. Must be a member of the NBNA and have at least a full year of school remaining.
  • Award Amount: $1,000-$6,000
  • Deadline: April 15, Annually

ARMY NURSE CORPS ASSOCIATION (ANCA) EDUCATION FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a nursing or anesthesia student who plans to enter the Active Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve and is not participating in a program funded by the Active Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve.
  • Award Amount: $3,000
  • Deadline: April 15, Annually

ATTSAVINGS.COM INTERNET & EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States. Incoming freshman: Applicant must be a current student and have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale and must have taken either the ACT or SAT test. Applicant must also be a high school or home school senior graduating or earning a GED between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015 and will be attending an accredited college or university by fall semester 2015. Current freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students: Applicant must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale, and be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015.

AXOL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible:  Applicant must be enrolled or accepted for a graduate or undergraduate degree for the 15/16 academic year at a recognized university. The degree program/research area must be in a life science related field. Open worldwide.
  • Award Amount: $2000
  • Deadline: June 30, 2015

BACHELOR’S SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a registered nurse with a current license to practice as an RN. Applicant must also have more than a high school diploma and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing degree program in a school of nursing recognized by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
  • Award Amount: $3,000-$5,000

BBG COMMUNICATIONS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 21 on June 30, 2015 and must submit answers to the two essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 30, 2015 deadline. Applicant must also have at least one full year of post-secondary studies remaining at the time of the award, have a GPA of 2.5 or greater and be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
  • Award Amount: $1,000

BEST MASTER IN SCIENCE NURSING DEGREES SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a matriculated graduate student currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited university in the United States. Applicant must hold U.S. citizenship as confirmed by a passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or another acceptable method mentioned here and carry a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  • Award Amount: $2,000

BETHESDA LUTHERAN COMMUNITIES SCHOLARSHIP FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be an active, communicant member of a Lutheran church and classified as a freshman, sophomore or junior status at a college or university (not necessarily a Lutheran college). Applicant must also have earned a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and have an interest in a career in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Award Amount: $500 – $3,000

BOUND TREE MEDICAL LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a first responder looking to earn EMT-Basic credentials.
  • Award Amount: $50,000

BRANSON SHOWS INSPIRED SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States between the ages of 16 and 19, who are current students of any accredited educational institution or program of higher learning. High school students and homeschooled students who plan to enroll in college upon graduation are strongly encouraged to apply. No person affiliated with BransonShowTickets.com may submit an entry.
  • Award Amount: $1,000

CAMPUSRN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a nursing student at a school that has registered in the scholarship program by linking to the CampusRN website. An essay is required. Finalists may be asked to submit awards, letters of recommendation and other materials upon selection. One award is given for each of the six geographical regions.
  • Award Amount: $2,500
  • Deadline: May 1, Annually

CAROLINE E. HOLT NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must demonstrate that s/he is in financial need and is accepted and enrolled into an accredited school of nursing. Applicant must obtain a letter of sponsorship from a local DAR chapter.
  • Award Amount: $1,000 annually
  • Deadline: February 15, Annually

CATCHING THE DREAM SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be 1/4 or more Native American and an enrolled member of a U.S. tribe. Applicant must be either enrolled or must plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university on a full-time basis.
  • Award Amount: $500 – $5,000 per academic year
  • Deadline: April 15 for the fall semester or September 15 for the spring semester

CATHERINE MOLONEY NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a Shelby County (Ohio) resident pursuing a Registered Nursing degree. Applicant may apply during any year of his/her education, however licensed RNs are not eligible for continuing education. Selection is based upon financial need, academic ability and demonstrated “empathy”
  • Award Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline:  June 01, Annually

CHARLES MOO SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be of Asian descent and pursuing higher education in America.
  • Award Amount: $500
  • Deadline: September 7, 2015

CHARLOTTE MCGUIRE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a nurse who is pursuing holistic nursing education and maintains a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Applicant must also have experience and interest in healing and holistic nursing practice.
  • Award Amount:  More than $30,000
  • Deadline:  March 15, Annually

COLON FURR MEMORIAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must reside in North Carolina and has been accepted or is enrolled in a one-year Licensed Practical Nurse program or is enrolled in a two-, three- or four-year program that leads to certification as a Registered Nurse. Applicant’s school must be in North Carolina and an American Legion Post must sponsor the applicant.
  • Award Amount: N/A

COUNTY OFFICE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is 16 years of age or older and either a current high school senior or currently enrolled in an accredited institute of higher learning.
  • Award Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: August 31, 2015

CYNTHIA E. MORGAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a current resident of the state of Maryland. Applicant must be a junior or senior at a Maryland high school or currently attending (or plan to attend) an accredited Maryland post-secondary school (college, university, trade school, or medical school).
  • Award Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: March 25, Annually

DELAWARE NURSING INCENTIVE PROGRAM

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited program leading to certification as an RN or LPN and either (1) a high school senior who ranks in the upper half of class with at least a 2.5 cumulative, unweighted GPA, or (2) an undergraduate who meets academic requirements.
  • Award Amount: Various

ELIZABETH J. DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding (Pell grants, Stafford loans, PLUS loans) and must seek education or training related to a health profession or home health care. Applicant should also demonstrate financial need.
  • Award Amount: $1,000 to $3,000.
  • Deadline: February 15, Annually

EMT PARAMEDIC SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

  • Who’s Eligible: An EMS student should first check with the EMS training school about available grants and scholarships offered by the school to the student.
  • Award Amount: $2000 to $5000

ENDOWMENT FOR SOUTH ASIAN STUDENTS OF INDIAN DESCENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 months before registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending a Pennsylvania undergraduate or graduate school).
  • Award Amount: $2,000

FRANKLIN D. BOYCE ANNUAL HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible:  Applicant must live in Hopewell, Prince George, Petersburg or the surrounding areas.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be over the age of 18 and enrolled at an accredited technical school, college or university in the U.S. Applicant must also maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or equivalent) while in college.

FUTURE OF NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible:  Applicant’s academic record, readiness for online study, financial need and current competency are taken into consideration.

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college is eligible to participate. All grade levels are eligible. Transfer students and non-traditional students as well as students studying abroad or taking classes online can apply. Any major or field of study is acceptable. High school seniors who are enrolled in an accredited college, either for a dual credit program or for the upcoming semester, are eligible.

KANSAS NURSING SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must have the obligation to practice as a LPN or RN in Kansas and work for a sponsor. A sponsor means any adult care home, psychiatric hospital, medical care facility, home health agency, local health department or any state agency, which employs LPNs or RNs, licensed by the State of Kansas.
  • Award Amount: $3500

KENTUCKY NURSING INCENTIVE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must work as a nurse in Kentucky for one year for each academic year funded. If a recipient does not complete the nursing program within the time frame specified by the program or does not complete the required employment, then the recipient will be required to repay any NISF monies awarded, plus accrued interest.
  • Award Amount: $3,000 per year

LEHIGH COUNTY MEDICAL AUXILIARY’S SCHOLARSHIP AND EDUCATION (LECOMASE) FUND SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident from Lehigh County for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending an undergraduate or graduate school).
  • Award Amount: $2,500

LIVFUND SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be over the age of 18 by the time that s/he would receive the scholarship award and have plans to learn/study, intern or volunteer abroad in Latin America, in one of the following countries: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay or Venezuela. Applicant must be have permission from a LIVfund staff member if the applicant plans to learn/study, intern or volunteer abroad with a LIVfund Scholarship in a Latin American country that is not listed above.

MARYLAND GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a Maryland resident and demonstrate financial need. Applicant must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student, either part-time or full-time, and attend one of the following schools: University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Pharmacy, or Social Work; University of Baltimore School of Law; The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, or certain Maryland institutions offering a master’s degree in nursing or social work or a first professional degree in pharmacy.

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a graduate of a high school within Shelby County (Ohio) or a resident of any public school district within Shelby County pursuing a certificate or an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in medical or health professions.
  • Award Amount: $2,000+
  • Deadline: June 01, Annually

MELISSA ANNE CENTRELLA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a qualifying student pursuing a career in nursing, medical sciences or a medical technical field. Applicant must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or better or continuing their education at an accredited institution (college, junior or community college, or technical school).

MYRTLE SIEGFRIED, MD AND MICHAEL VIGILANTE, MD SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a resident of Lehigh, Berks or Northampton, Applicant must be entering his/her first year of medical school.

N.C. ASSOCIATION OF RESCUE AND EMS

  • Who’s Eligible: The scholarship is available for students in four-year degree programs as well as students pursuing 2-year credentials.

NAEMT PARAMEDIC SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be an individual, active member of NAEMT.  Student, squad or trial members must upgrade to individual, active membership status in order to qualify.
  • Award Amount: N/A
  • Deadline: March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15 each year

NASN ADVOCACY EDUCATION AWARD

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a current member with Active classification membership for the previous two years. Applicant must hold a current licensure and be employment full time as a school nurse (RN).
  • Award Amount: $1,500
  • Deadline: October 15, Annually

NBNA SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be currently enrolled in a nursing program (B.S.N., A.D., Diploma or L.P.N. / L.V.N. and in good scholastic standing at the time of application. Applicant must be a member of NBNA and a member of a local chapter (if one exists in your area) and have at least one full year of school remaining
  • Award Amount:  $500 to $2,000

NELLIE MARTIN CARMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a graduating senior from a public high school in the county of King, Pierce or Snohomish in the state of Washington in the year of appointment. Applicant must also be a United States citizen and plan to attend a college in the state of Washington on a full-time basis.
  • Award Amount:  $500 – $2,000
  • Deadline: March 01, Annually

NEW HAMPSHIRE CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS 

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant is evaluated with particular attention paid to personal attributes like compassion, leadership potential and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Award Amount:  $500+
  • Deadline: N/A

NURSEJOURNAL.ORG GLOBAL HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level, global health related program in nursing, medicine or public health. International students enrolled in a qualified program and all military students are eligible. Students who participate in any type of Global Health program may qualify for this scholarship including nurses, public health workers and physicians.

OBEO ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be any current, full-time student of an accredited American university or college, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is eligible. There is no age requirement.

PENNYHOARDER’S FRUGAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must currently be enrolled in a college or university and have an active class schedule.

PERINATAL NURSING GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must currently be enrolled in a graduate program in maternal-child nursing at the master’s or doctoral level. Applicant must have at least one academic term to complete after May of the year in which the scholarship is awarded. Applicant must be a member of at least one of the following professional organizations: the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses; the American College of Nurse-Midwives; or the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.
  • Award Amount: $5,000

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH-U.S.A. STUDENT OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and have completed second year of college. Applicant must be enrolled full-time and be in good academic standing (2.5 GPA or greater).
  • Award Amount: Up to $2,000

Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student for the following academic year. Applicant does not need to be a member of Mensa or be related to one.

ROOSEVELT LOVETT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be of African-American descent and pursuing higher education. Applicant must be enrolled in at least 6 units at a community college, trade school, public or private university, or graduate school. If already enrolled in college, student must maintain a minimum 2.3 GPA.
  • Award Amount: $750

SHIPDIG.COM SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited academic institutions. Scholarship is also open to any high school senior who is enrolling upon graduation. Students of all majors and intended majors are welcome to participate. Applicant must be residents of the United States. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age. Awards will be sent directly to the financial aid office of the institution of the finalist’s enrollment.

SIGMA XI GRANTS-IN-AID OF RESEARCH

  • Who’s Eligible:  Applicant must plan to use the funding to pay for travel expenses to and from a research site, or for purchase of non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a specific research project.
  • Award Amount: $1000 – $2500
  • Deadline: March 15 and October 15 annually

STUDENT LOAN ASSISTANCE COUNSEL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be enrolled in full-time studies at a college, trades, or technical school by no later than September 2015. Applicant must be currently residing in the United States and intend on continuing studies in the United States.
  • Award Amount: $500
  • Deadline: September 15, 2015

THE GEORGE SNOW SCHOLARSHIP FUND

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a graduate of a Palm Beach County or North Broward County high school and show financial need. Applicant must be active in their school and community have strong educational and career goals and are self-motivated.
  • Award Amount:  $7,000
  • Deadline: November 1st each year, with the deadline for submission being February 1st.

THE MARK Z HOME SELLING TEAM SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a current, full-time student of an accredited American university or college, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is eligible.
  • Award Amount:  $2,500
  • Deadline: August 1, 2015

THE MOVERS CORP UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States. Applicant may not be an associate (employee) of Movers Corp. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Military academics are ineligible. Applicant must be enrolled in a program that is two years in length or longer and must be enrolled in an accredited college.

THE SCOTT A. GUNDER, MD, DCMS PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania at least 12 months before registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending an undergraduate/graduate school in Pennsylvania).
  • Award Amount:   $1,500
  • Deadline: April 15, Annually 

THE WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION OLIVER JOEL & ELLEN PELL DENNY HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be studying a subject in the field of allied health at an accredited postsecondary institution and have a GPA of at least 2.5. Applicant must be seeking a first-time certificate, diploma, associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree holders are ineligible. Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
  • Award Amount:  Up to $3,000
  • Deadline: August 15, Annually 

THERMOS SCIENTIFIC PIERCE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student at 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at an accredited college or university for the Fall 2015 semester. Candidate must have a declared major of Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related life science field.
  • Award Amount:  $5,000 – $10,000
  • Deadline: July 27, 2015

TOPMEDICALASSISTANTSCHOOLS.COM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be at least 18 years old and currently attending a college or university or planning to attend in the fall of 2015. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA based on the previous school year’s academic performance.
  • Award Amount:  $500
  • Deadline: July 31, 2015

TYLENOL FUTURE CARE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must be pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. Applicant must have completed at least one year of undergraduate or graduate study in the current spring semester at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.
  • Award Amount:  $5,000 – $10,000
  • Deadline: June 30, 2015

UNITED WAY PARAMEDIC SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible: Applicant must have maintained a minimum overall GPA of 2.0. Must have demonstrated financial need

VDH MARY MARSHALL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

  • Who’s Eligible : Applicant must hold residency in Virginia for at least one year and have acceptance or enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in a school of nursing in Virginia. Applicant must have a GPA of at least a 3.0 (RN only) and demonstrate financial need.
  • Award Amount:  $1,200

VIRGINIA ELIZABETH & ALMA VANE TAYLOR STUDENT NURSE FUND

  • Who’s Eligible : Applicant must be accepted into an accredited North Carolina school of nursing program as verified by an acceptance letter for both associate and baccalaureate degrees and have achieved a current cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
  • Award Amount:  $982,000
